John Freeman Todd has been a professional photographer for over 19 years. After attending St. Lawrence University in upstate New York, he got his start working as a photojournalist for an East Coast newspaper. In 1990, he returned to his native town of Palo Alto to begin his own photography business. He has a wide range of expertise in many forms of photography including corporate, sports, fine art, and advertising promotion.
An experienced photographer, John was the team photographer for Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes since the team’s inception in 1996 until it’s close in 2005 . He also owns and operates International Sports Images, www.isiphotos.com the official photography supplier to the U.S. Men and Women’s soccer teams, the University of California Berkeley, and the Maverick’s Big Wave Surfing contest. His work has appeared in Time Magazine, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated and ESPN the Magazine, and has been displayed at the Smithsonian Institution as part of a women-in-sports photography exhibit.
In addition to his commercial and editorial work, John also teaches a yearly sports photography class in the Stanford Continuing Studies program at Stanford University.
